In summary, you cannot go wrong in getting these beauties. Period. They are as smooth as silk.no harshness, or artificial boost of any part of the sound. But when I hit them with my first iTunes song.WOW, what a surprise. So, when I bought my new Mac Pro, I decided to give the Horizon series a try. I have a had Boston Acoustics PC speakers before.and for their size they were pretty impressive. Setup was pretty generic and straight forward.no surprises there. The bass is rock solid.and when cranked up the only rattling are the windows.
I would buy this again in a heartbeat. For movies or gaming or music, I don't think you can go wrong with this system, and the price is more than reasonable for what you get. I am delighted with this system. The mids and highs are right on and the bass is perfect, it is not boomy at all,it is what it is supposed to be, Great Bass without taking over. Having a 65" tv, I don't need a 5.1 surround system for the computer.
Unit does have a problem with interference (coming from your cellphone if nearby), though I just remember to never leave my cellphone near it. Crystal clear sound and perfect bass response. Overall a fantastic deal at this price. Great sounding system. I got a great deal ($59.99 w/ FREE shipping) and love this unit as a computer system. I hear you can get a cheap adapter from radioshack to stop this minor problem.
They are so balanced, even at low volumes (which is a problem for the Logitechs). Until Logitech starts updating and improving their speaker line, even though I'm a huge Logitech fan, I'd pick these BAs over those. But like someone else on here said - just get some shielding tips from Radio Shack or Monoprice, and you're good as gold.I got these for a steal at sixty five dollars with free shipping from Electronics Expo via Amazon. Check camelcamelcamel dot com to see what the price is doing, and they'll alert you when the price hits whatever price point you'd like. These speakers are worth twice the price I paid, however.
The Logitechs are definitely much louder, and have much more bass. My fiance has the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers, and I have these. I LOVE that they have an Aux input on the control - I just plug in my MP3 player and go about my business. Perfect in every way. It took maybe a month to fully break these speakers in, but once I did, they ROCKED. For some reason the price on these is going all over the place. By the way, it's worth mentioning that I don't have the interference problem that others on here are speaking about.
The Logitechs are lacking badly in the midrange, and after listening at loud volumes for a while, I suffer from listening fatigue. The MM226 are much more balanced (especially in the mids) and sound much cleaner. And if you don't like the color you get (I was hesitant about the mist), for five dollars you can get different colored speaker covers from the BA website :)I highly recommend these speakers, and I would pick these over the Logitechs any day (unless all I wanted were loud, thumping speakers for parties). I find it hard to believe that any speaker system doesn't have this feature nowadays - who doesn't want to hook up their mp3 player to their speakers. The MM226 sub doesn't look nearly as bad as it does in the picture (I have the mist colored model). Let me compare the two.
The sub is about twice as big as the MM226. It's smaller than I thought and sits perfectly under my computer desk. I suspect they may have static when using cordless telephones, it seems. I also considered the Logitech Z-4s for a long time, but they get mixed reviews and also seem to be lacking in the midrange.
I'm just going to add to the already stellar reviews here. They are smaller and quieter, but suit me perfectly in my one bedroom apartment. I only have a cell phone so have no way of knowing if I'd have the same problem.
These replaced my 2.1 speaker set that came with my Dell that I should have replaced years ago. I would buy these again. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase I made about 3 months ago. All ranges of sound are excellent.
